Special Education Inclusive Practices

Inclusive Practices

Inclusive practices are a set of actions that, when implemented with fidelity, meet the individual needs of students with disabilities by providing appropriate accommodations and supports to access the general education curriculum.  Inclusion occurs when an LEA makes international systemwide efforts to meaningfully include students with disabilities along side their peers without disabilities in both general education classrooms and the school community overall.  Achieving full inclusion means that an LEA develops, embraces, refines, and sustains a school culture and climate focused on providing specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in general education classrooms to the maximum extent appropriate in light of students' needs.
