Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a federal law passed in 2015 that governs K–12 public education in the U.S., replacing its predecessor, the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). ESSA provides states with more flexibility and control over their education policies, including school accountability and teacher evaluations, while still requiring standardized testing and public reporting of student performance. It aims to ensure that all children have access to a high-quality education and to close achievement gaps.
