In order to appropriately implement the regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004, evaluation personnel must be aware of sound evaluation practices that provide useful, instructional information. They must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to assist schools in making both eligibility decisions and relevant functional and developmental recommendations for students with disabilities.
Region 14 strives to provide support and assistance to evaluation personnel in order to promote best practices in the evaluation process. Training includes state and national perspectives on evaluation, updates from the Texas Education Agency, legal issues, focus on the newest evaluation instruments, and opportunities to increase skill and knowledge in evaluation. Implementation of these best practices will lead to increased student achievement and provide support for regional teachers.
