Region XIV Education Service Center currently offers eleven different alternative certification programs. These programs are divided into three major categories: programs for applicants who currently have a degree and want only a teaching certificate, programs for applicants who have a masters and desire additional certifications, and those who desire a masters plus additional certifications. For those applicants who desire a masters, Region XIV partners with Angelo State University. Region XIV charges $6,000 for participation in any ACP plus any required fees. A non-refundable $1,000 deposit is required upon acceptance to a program, and the remaining will be collected throughout the training. If an applicant is working through Angelo State University, there will be additional fees paid to the university. These fees will be set by Angelo State.
The following programs are offered by Region XIV ACP for those individuals seeking a teaching certificate: math (8-12); science (8-12), EC-12 special education; and EC-6 generalist and 4-8 generalist. All applicants must meet the minimum requirements for admission into any program.
The following programs are offered by Region XIV ACP for those individuals seeking a masters and a specialized certificate: master of education with principal certification; and master of education with counselor certification.
The following programs are offered by Region XIV ACP for those individuals who hold a masters degree: counselor certification; principal certification; and superintendent certification.
All programs have certain application requirements. After an application has been processed, each applicant must be interviewed by the ACP staff before being admitted to a program. A criminal history check will also be required for each applicant prior to being admitted to a program.
(Continuous enrollment is available throughout the year as long as a program has not reached its capacity)
